Monica is the best-known open-source personal CRM, and deservedly loved. If what stops you is the self-hosting — or you want a map instead of a list — here is an honest comparison.

Monica put the phrase “a CRM, but nobody is a lead” into the world, and Kizuna agrees with every word of it. Its 25,000-plus GitHub stars are earned. If you are comfortable running a Docker stack, or happy on their hosted plan, you may not need anything else — and you should probably try Monica first.
Kizuna exists for a narrower case: you want the outcome — remembering the people who matter — without a server to maintain, with far fewer fields to fill in, and with the connections between people drawn rather than listed.

Moving over
There is no automatic Monica import today. Kizuna’s own backup format is plain JSON, and the deliberate smallness of the model means most people move their twelve most important contacts by hand in an evening — which is also a good moment to decide who those twelve are.
